Artek sprang from the ideas of four young idealists, the architects Alvar and Aino Aalto, the benefactor Maire Gullichsen and the art historian NilsGustav Hahl in Helsinki in 1935. Artek‘s founders conceived it as a platform for modern art, industry, interior design and, more generally, as a manifesto of ideas. Then as now Artek continues to go beyond new barriers between the meeting of design, architecture and art, creating pieces that are extraordinary in their clarity, functionality and poetic simplicityFounded in 1926, MC Selvini is a historic retail partner of Artek: there couldn’t be a better platform on which to present the Artek Art & Technology exhibition.
More information about the exhibition can be found on the company website.
