From July 14th to October 15th 2017 the Chiesa della Spina in Pisa is hosting an installation by American artist Richard Nonas entitled “… As light through fog … .Architectural memory pierced by art”
The event has been organized by the City of Pisa in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Michela Rizzo Spazio Tempo Association and the Atlante Cultural Services Cooperative with the support of the Bolognese P420 gallery.
The installation consists of 14 parallelepipeds which draw a diagonal line of about 14 meters.
This line interferes and interacts with the other preexisting ones already on site, namely those of the river and the oblique lines of church architecture. The Nonas line is one of the infinite number of potential lines possible within this space which nevertheless turns out to be empty: it becomes a place of absence where the traces left by history are lost in the fog of time and are no longer clearly visible either to the eye or the memory.
