Dome 2.0

Posted on

The Fabris&Partners architectural firm has been commissioned to create the dome for the Sheraton Hotel in Algeria. The goal of the project was to create a body attached to the hotels main tower that would be smaller than the principal structure and which would capture the attention without breaking the hotel’s visual harmony, thus it was decided to opt for the construction of a spherical dome. The difficulty of constructing the dome made it necessary to find a material that would allow the creation of curved shapes and therefore it was decided to choose KRION® by the Porcelanosa Grupo, a material which gives flexibility, versatility and durability.

Thanks to this innovative mineral, Fabris&Partners were able to create the final shape of the dome with the desired texture, applying their creative ideas to the circular façade.
The engineering work was carried out by
Butech who adapted the design of the fastening system to meet the needs of a project in which curved shapes predominate for a total surface area of 1800m2. For more information visit the Porcelanosa Grupo website.
