The latest edition of the Fuorisalone is just about to kick off, have you got your map and a pair of comfortable shoes ready?
Like last year, I’ve started to write down all the things I don’t want to miss so here’s my very own personal must-see list!
1. Design Pride by Seletti
Last year it was a real spectacle, I'm sure that this year it will be much much more. The iconic and colourful procession of floats, music, dance and performance will liven up the Milan Design Week on Wednesday April 5 th from 18:00, passing through the 5VIE district and ending up at the Milan Stock Exchange with a grand finale party. 2. Blossoming sculpture by Cos
COS will be present at the 2017 Salone del Mobile with a large-scale installation that can be seen at the Cinema Arti and which is a multi-sensory sculpture that promises a unique and very hazy experience! Info ->
3. Ikea Festival
With music, design, performances and live events, IKEA will focus on the ability to express oneself and the uniqueness of everyday life in a festival that will take place during this year’s Milan Salone del Mobile.Info ->
4. Urban Hugs by Stefano Boeri
URBAN HUGS is a space for getting up close and personal, accompanied by the cello melodies of Piero Salvatori, in a liberating hug.
There is a fence to protect people hugging from traffic, but not excluded from urban life, thanks to the tree trunks from Friuli woods in the Pinacoteca di Brera.
5. Design nomade
How has design changed in the neo-nomadic period? What have been the impacts on shapes and forms, materials, interfaces and design paradigms? Design Nomade is an exhibition created as the result of an international call by BASE Milano with suggestions by Stefano Mirti. Objects that answer the new needs of our flexible existences.
6. Façades, the skin of architecture
The facade of the building where Piuarch is based – the courtyard at Via Palermo 5 – is home to an installation of façade gardening, in which a vegetable garden decorates the entire front of the building from top to bottom.Info ->
7. I-M- Material, installations at the Milan Statale
Authentic masterpieces curated by some of the top names in design including Michele de Lucchi, Ron Arad, Italo Rota, Antonio Citterio and Massimo Iosa Ghini.
8. Fare Luce, the enthralling Foscarini installation at the Fuorisalone
“FARE LUCE” is the title of the installation designed by the architect Giovanni Maria Filindeu for Foscarini Spazio Brera, six different environments corresponding to six different forms of light designed not in terms of technical performance, but rather searching purely for evocative dimensionsInfo ->
9. The Slow Wood LabStore is turned into an urban rainforest
35 square metres, five different woods and a living space in an apartment set in a historical building located in the Brera in the heart of Milan which can become a space for conviviality when necessary. Info ->
10. S.F_Sensi del Futuro by LG
To mark its 70 th birthday LG is presenting the “S.F_Sensi del Futuro” light installation by LG in partnership with the designer Tokujin Yoshioka. S.F_Sensi del Futuro combines state of the art LG technology with Yoshioka’s unique artistic vision. This ingenious installation projects a poetic phenomenon that can only be described as a tapestry of light: a truly futuristic dimension that transcends and confuses the human senses. FATTOBENE , the platform for the research into and promotion of Italian objects that have existed for generations, presents the FATTOBENE TEMPORARY STORE, the first temporary shop dedicated exclusively to the historic ‘made in Italy’ concept.
13. Connexions by Sunbrella®
The installation consists of 10 huge balloons, all connected to each other and dressed with the latest Sunbrella fabrics. This inflatable structure has been photographed in a wide range of locations, both indoors and outdoors in order to contextualize and provide an expressive interpretation of Sunbrella fabrics.
