Fiemme 3000, the Trento company that since 1993 has specialized in flooring, coatings and furnishings in eco-friendly wood, has presented the results of its “Alfa-pinene Project”. After 18 months of analysis, the National Research Council – Institute for the Valuation of Wood and Tree Species has demonstrated the absence of radiation, heavy metal and crude oil-derived products and chemicals considered harmful in all the Trento company’s products. The analysis also revealed the emission of VOCs typical of plants and other forms of vegetation, including a number of monoterpenes (e.g. Alfa-pinene, hence the name of the project) which are found in balsamic medicines and considered beneficial if taken in low quantities.
These characteristics were also confirmed by the surveys carried out in the cutting and manufacturing environments of the company’s production plant in Predazzo in Val di Fiemme where treatments and finishes are applied: even here the air is devoid of toxic substances.
The measurements taken focused on over 100 flooring samples, analyzing all the products currently in production throughout their lifecycle and using scientific instruments to classify the emissions of any chemicals like VOCs and formaldehyde or physical agents such as metal powders and radiation that are responsible for air quality and therefore indoor pollution.
