Origami, the art of folding paper in order to create fantastic figures, objects, animals and the like was the source of inspiration for the radiator of the same name designed by Alberto Meda for Tubes Radiatori.
Origami is a virtuoso exercise in design and technology that can be appreciated even by newcomers to design, thanks to the fact that it can be extended or folded away like a screen. This plug & play electric radiator therefore becomes an item of furniture, able to establish a dialogue with the space in which it is installed as well as combining a level of inherent functionality, either on its own or with accessories, together with the option of dividing two spaces, maintaining an element of privacy, enhancing an atmosphere of sophistication and increasing a sense of wellbeing.
And if it appeals to newcomers, there’s a good chance of it being appreciated by design experts as well. It’s no surprise then that Origami won the Red Dot Design Award 2017 thanks to being selected by a jury of 40 international experts who with evaluation criteria such as innovation, functionality, quality and attention to ecology, only award the Red Dot quality brand to products which demonstrate all these features. The Awards ceremony for Product Design 2017 will be held on Monday 3rd July 2017 at the Aalto‐Theater and the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen.
But that’s not all. In addition, this electric radiator has received other awards such as the Salone del Mobile.Milano Award, the Archiproducts Design Award, the Good Design Award and the Design Plus Award Powered by ISH 2017. What else?
